Biography
Sylvia has been a paralegal since 1994 and has dedicated her career to helping those who have fallen victim to our legal system. She began her career with the Felony Unit of the Public Defender’s office in Albuquerque. In 1999, she moved to Moscow, Idaho to work with the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho in their Capital Habeas Unit. She next moved to the Capital Habeas Unit of the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Tucson, Arizona to continue working with death row inmates. After a few years in Tucson, she returned to criminal trial work with the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked for six years. Eventually, she made her way back home and has spent the last several years working with law firms advocating for justice on behalf of those who have had their civil rights violated. Sylvia is passionate about her work in this field and the ways it can help our community.
